Water System Improvements
Henlopen Acres, Delaware
The Henlopen Acres water distribution system was constructed in the early 1960's to serve its residents. The system had experienced a deterioration of performance in recent years resulting in the disruption of service. In 1991, Davis, Bowen & Friedel, Inc., was hired by the town to provide a comprehensive study of the entire water system.
Following the study phase of this project, Davis, Bowen & Friedel, Inc., provided full engineering design and construction phase services for the water distribution system and treatment facility improvements. The water distribution system design consisted of 18,600 LF of 4-inch diameter PVC pipe to provide better pressure and flowrates for all customers, increased looping and the elimination of dead-end lines. The water treatment facility design included aeration, chlorination and lime feed with concrete reservoir and high lift pumps. |
