Design of New Sewage Treatment Plant 
NASA Flight Facility, Main Base
Wallops Island, Virginia

This project consisted of engineering and architectural design of a 0.3-MGD treatment plant. Included were preparation of biddable plans and specifications. The design included a dual train extended aeration process for BOD and ammonia removal, flow equalization, main pump station and conveyance system, continual backwash sand filter, ultraviolet disinfection, post aeration, new outfall, soda ash feed system, sludge drying beds utilizing porous pavement and greenhouse enclosure, instrumentation for flow metering and chemical feed pacing, motor control center, customized alarm system, mechanical and electrical facilities, and backup power generator. Also included were a control/maintenance building, and site work. Coordination and review meetings were held with NASA at critical junctures in the design to receive comments and approval.
